UBIC, Inc. (TOKYO: 2158.TSE) is historically a provider of litigation support software and services for Asian corporations and has recently expanded its North American presence with new offices and data centers. The company enters North America with resources (a profitable business from outside the US) and is not reliant on venture funding. The company’s experience in international cases should serve it well as eDiscovery goes more global. Still, UBIC needs to quickly come up with some differentiators – other than foreign language expertise – for its software or it could get drowned out in a sea of similar competitors. Given its resources and commitment, it is likely that UBIC will experience growth in the North American market.
